UN Warns of Dehumanization and Child Casualties
At least 10 people, including women and children, have been killed in Israeli air attacks on residential homes in Gaza's Rafah city. The Israeli forces have also continued to raid the Nur Shams refugee camp in the area.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the death toll in the ongoing conflict has now reached 42. The Israeli war cabinet is set to reconvene to discuss its response to Iran's first direct attack on Israel.
The violence has sparked international condemnation, with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) warning of "rampant dehumanization" in the conflict. UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini told the UN Security Council that children in Gaza were being killed and traumatized.
The rising tensions between Israel and Iran have raised concerns of a wider regional conflict. Israel has accused Iran of providing military support to Hamas, the militant group that controls Gaza. Iran has denied the allegations.
The international community is calling for an immediate ceasefire and a return to negotiations. The United States has urged both sides to de-escalate the situation and avoid further civilian casualties.
